What This Service Is
Meridian Insurance Company ("MIC," "we," "us") is a free, community-operated service for Star Citizen players. We are not a licensed insurance company, financial institution, or affiliate of Cloud Imperium Games. This service involves virtual game currency (aUEC) only — no real-world money is exchanged.
Information We Collect
When you use MIC, we collect:
- Account information: Email address, display name, and avatar from your Discord or Google account (if using OAuth), or the email and name you provide during registration.
- RSI identity: Your Star Citizen handle, RSI account enlistment date, and verification status.
- Claim data: Activity type, incident description, ship, location, aUEC amount, Issue Council report links, contribution type, and uploaded evidence files (screenshots and videos).
- IP addresses: Logged when you submit a claim, used solely for fraud detection.
- Login activity: Basic login activity for account security purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- To verify your Star Citizen identity and process claims.
- To detect and prevent fraudulent claims.
- To communicate with you about your claim status.
- To generate anonymous community statistics (total claims processed, aUEC recovered, bug reports filed).
- To secure your account (login lockout, ban enforcement).
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect or store passwords from Discord or Google logins.
- We do not collect payment information or real-world financial data.
- We do not sell, share, or disclose your personal information to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and access controls. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are securely hashed and are never stored in plain text.
Data Retention
We retain your account data and claim history for as long as your account is active. IP addresses associated with claims are retained for fraud detection purposes. If you request account deletion, all personal data will be removed within 30 days.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data through your dashboard.
- Delete your account and all associated data by contacting support.
- Correct inaccurate information by contacting support.
